The Foreign Languages Forum Thessaloniki, 2 September 2018 | Grand Hotel Palace

The Foreign Languages Forum is one of the main events in the Greek English Language Teaching calendar. Attended by approximately 700 ELT professionals, it features a 1-day programme of commercial and professional talks as well as workshops.

The Forum will take place on 2 September at the Grand Hotel Palace and includes a plethora of plenary sessions covering a wide range of topics.

The Forum’s plenary sessions are expected to attract a lot of attention as distinguished speakers from Greece and abroad will share ideas, knowledge and expertise. Amongst the highlights of the event are the sessions by Dr Helen Livaniou, Dr Luke Prodromou and Russell Stannard.

In addition, a large resources and book exhibition will give you the opportunity to see the latest ELT publications and services just before the start of the school year.

Luke Prodromou:

A Creative Approach to Exam preparation Classes
This talk explores a more creative approach to exam preparation. Testing is important and should be part and parcel of an integrated approach to teaching as education and not something which undermines our attempts to teach effectively. Testing is often used as a short cut to extrinsic motivation – but, I argue, we can make test preparation more a process of intrinsic motivation by making it more creative. I suggest ways of testing which make it consistent with good teaching practice, where motivation addresses the whole person and not just the person-as-exam-candidate – and which gets the best exam results!

Russell Stannard:

Key technologies that can impact on teaching and learning
Russell Stannard has 1000s of teachers visiting his website each year. He surveys them to find out what technologies they are using most and how they are using them. In this talk, Russell will highlight some of the key technologies that teachers around the world are using and demonstrate real practical examples of their use. A talk packed with real examples of good practice covering a range of areas of education including feedback, blended learning, Flipped learning and assessment just to name a few.

Στην παρουσίαση θα αναφερθούμε στις συμπεριφορές που αντιμετωπίζει ο εκπαιδευτικός μέσα στην καθημερινότητα της τάξης του. Θα παρουσιάσουμε τα αίτια και τα συμπτώματα και θα προτείνουμε τρόπους αποτελεσματικής διαχείρισης.

Η κα Ελένη Λιβανίου θα αναλύσει τις Μαθησιακές Δυσκολίες και τα δευτερογενή προβλήματα συμπεριφοράς που απορρέουν από αυτές. Πιο συγκεκριμένα θα αναλυθούν: 1. Οι Μαθησιακές Δυσκολίες και οι μηχανισμοί άμυνας που υιοθετούν τα παιδιά για να μπορέσουν να καλύψουν τις δυσκολίες μάθησης. 2. Σταθμισμένα ερωτηματολογια: τι σημαίνουν στην πράξη οι κατηγοριοποιήσεις;
